Slurry Lagoon Case Study

Protecting wildlife and people from the dangers of a 2 million gallon slurry lagoon was the most recent project for Lancaster based experienced fencing contractor, Chris Alty and his team. Lined with a plastic membrane buried three quarters of a metre into the ground at the perimeter, the lagoon located at W.R. Clarke and Partners Farm, Cinderbarrow, required 280 metres of 2m high Hampton NET™ Fencing combined with Hampton’s metal box and angle strainer systems together with StapleloK intermediate metal post system.

The importance of preventing access to the slurry lagoon by unauthorised people, wildlife and livestock is a priority for which Health and Safety guidelines are set and must be adhered to. The perimeter structure had to fulfil on several essential specifications; small apertures in the mesh to help prevent hand or footholds, barbed wire at the top to act as a further deterrent. Furthermore, the fence should withstand force to the bottom by stock so as not to be pushed up and leave a gap. Choosing Hampton NET™ metal fencing and post systems over alternative, more traditional fencing comes with the reassurance of strength, rigidity and longevity; a fence system that will last for more than 30 years without the usual deterioration that can be experienced in such testing conditions.

Hampton’s recently launched metal strainer systems provide the versatility to allow for easy changes in direction of the fence line and the resilience to withstand the harshest of weather and ground conditions. Supplied in both angle and box strainer options, the metal strainer posts are offered in various lengths suitable for fence heights up to 2.6 metres high. Conveniently located bolts prevent fences from lifting under tension on undulating terrain.

Combined with Hampton’s intermediate metal post system, StapleloK, customers can be assured of a fully integrated metal post system that delivers on quality, versatility, strength and durability.
