Hampton Visits Hartpury University and Hartpury College

Among the UK’s leading specialist education providers in agriculture, animal, equine, sport and veterinary nursing, Hartpury’s 360-hectare campus features state-of-the-art facilities for over 3,600 university and college-level students.

With investments over the past 20 years of more than £50million and with an Agri Tech Centre planned for September 2019, it seemed appropriate for UK manufacturer, Hampton Steel to help educate the next generation of farmers and agricultural engineers on the features and benefits of Hampton’s next generation fencing and metal post systems.

Hampton’s fixed knot fencing, Hampton NET™ provided the students and lecturers with an interesting alternative to classic hinge joint stock fence. It’s smooth finish with no protruding ends helps to prevent injury to animals. The innovative low profile joint locks vertical and horizontal wires tight preventing movement when put under pressure. Incredibly versatile and superior in strength, Hampton NET™ certainly prompted some thought-provoking discussions with both students and lecturers.

With a new Agri Tech Centre planned for Hartpury in 2019 Hamptons recently launched metal strainer systems and Versalok® intermediate post system, attracted considerable interest from the forward thinking students and lecturers. 100% recyclable and environmentally friendly, Hampton’s metal posts are all guaranteed for 30 years and offer a real long-life alternative to timber posts.

Versalok® posts are manufactured from high tensile steel in 1.5mm and 2.5mm thickness with a zinc, magnesium and aluminium coating providing an incredibly durable alternative to timber. Compatible with all woven wire fencing patterns, the Versalok® clips can be easily inserted, even by hand as one willing student helped to demonstrate!

‘We visited the Hampton stand at the APF Forestry show and were keen to provide our students with an insight into the next generation of fencing and metal posts, all of which Hamptons have designed and manufacture. It is important to us as a forward thinking teaching facility to work with similarly minded companies. Our students are eager to learn and keen to push the boundaries in quite a traditional sector so if we can provide them with the options and the knowledge to facilitate their expectations then we have succeeded.’ Said Dave Buck, Estate Craftsperson at Hartpury University and Hartpury College.

‘This was a great opportunity for us to provide an insight into what we believe is the next generation of fencing and post systems. Hampton’s recently launched Versalok® metal post system certainly led to some interesting conversations with the attentive audience. We look forward to working with Hartpury College and University in the months ahead.’ said Tracey Stinson, Sales Executive at Hampton Steel Ltd.

Hartpury University is currently the only university in Gloucestershire to hold a TEF (Teaching Excellence Framework) Gold award, while Hartpury College was rated Ofsted Outstanding in all areas this year.  Visit www.hartpury.ac.uk for more information on their courses.
